Six men charged with rioting after Yishun carpark brawl leaves 48-year-old unconscious

A 48-year-old man was left unconscious with serious head and body injuries after a group brawl erupted near the carpark at Block 243 Yishun Ring Road at around 8pm on Friday, 24 July 2026. Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrived to find the victim lying injured on the ground, bleeding from his face, and he was conveyed unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Witnesses reported seeing multiple individuals beating the man as he lay on the road before the attackers fled the scene ahead of police arrival. Through follow-up investigations and a review of police camera footage, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Police Intelligence Department identified seven suspects and arrested them between 25 and 28 July. Six men aged between 18 and 27 were charged with rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code on 29 July 2026; investigations into a seventh man, aged 33, remain ongoing. A conviction under Section 147 carries a maximum sentence of seven years' imprisonment and caning. The Singapore Police Force stated it would spare no effort in arresting perpetrators of violence and prosecuting them to the full extent of the law.
