A 42-year-old man died in the early hours of June 29 after falling from a height and crashing through the roof of a covered walkway near Block 107 Yishun Ring Road, leaving a gaping hole in the structure. The incident was reported at approximately 5.30am, when police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted and the man was conveyed unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. Reporters arriving at the scene found the area near the ground floor lift cordoned off, with one of the walkway rafters visibly bent from the force of impact. A nearby resident, Yamini, told Shin Min Daily News she heard a loud bang at around 5am but initially attributed the sound to a construction site in the vicinity โ€” only learning of the incident after a friend passed by and noticed police presence and a lift temporarily out of service. A second resident, who declined to be named, described the deceased as having a large, imposing build. Police confirmed they do not suspect foul play at this stage, and investigations remain ongoing.
