A 43-year-old man, Mohamad Yazid Junaineh, was charged on 6 July after spitting on a police officer and using vulgarities to obstruct officers attending to a fire at Block 381 Yishun Ring Road on 3 July. Yazid, released from prison in April 2024 on a Conditional Remission Order (CRO) valid until 12 October 2026, created a disturbance at the fire scene by scolding officers, shouting continuously, and speaking in a mocking tone while seemingly challenging them to arrest him and encouraging onlookers to film the confrontation.

When officers engaged him, he refused to stop and spat on one officer before being arrested. He was charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code with using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging dutiesβ€”an offence carrying up to four years' jail and/or a fine. Yazid was remanded for medical examination at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and his case is scheduled for hearing on 20 July.

The Singapore Police Force reiterated its "zero tolerance" policy for obstruction, harassment, or force against public servants.
