Man dares Yishun cops to arrest him mid-firefighting op — they oblige

A 43-year-old man was arrested for public nuisance on July 3, 2026, after directing vulgarities at police officers and spitting on one during an active firefighting operation at Block 381C Yishun Ring Road. The blaze, which broke out on the 12th floor at around 5pm, had already prompted the evacuation of 25 residents and sent a child to hospital — a chaotic enough backdrop without additional interference. According to police, the man refused to stop his behaviour when officers engaged him, and subsequently spat on an officer, escalating the situation from loud nuisance to criminal act. Video footage posted on Facebook page Singapore Incidents shows the man — dressed in a red sleeveless top and black trousers — taunting officers on the ground floor, audibly claiming they could not arrest him and mockingly extending his hands for handcuffing. Officers, apparently unbothered by the invitation, accepted it. He was arrested on three charges: being a public nuisance, using insulting words towards a public servant, and using criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty. The man also reportedly required medical assistance during the incident, adding a layer of irony to his earlier bravado. SCDF confirmed it conveyed one person to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital after receiving a call at around 7.25pm. Police investigations are ongoing.
