Yishun Ring Road murder: man, 35, killed in lift lobby; flatmate charged
On the morning of 27 July 2024, 35-year-old Fiqri Choo Iskandar was found motionless in the 10th-floor lift lobby of Block 803 Yishun Ring Road and pronounced dead at the scene. Police were alerted around 8.35am; residents reported hearing a roughly 10-minute argument and loud shouting between two men beforehand. The Straits Times reported that the accused and the victim shared the 10th-floor flat, and that the altercation began inside before spilling out to the lift lobby.
Fiqri, who reportedly had a mild intellectual disability, had inherited the flat after his parents died and was cared for by a guardian; neighbours said he had been bullied. Affendi Bin Yusoff, 49, was arrested at the scene and charged on 28 July 2024 with murder under section 300(a) of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death penalty.
On 6 August 2024 he was escorted back to the unit for a police re-enactment. As of the latest available reporting the case remained before the courts and no verdict has been recorded; this is a developing case.
