Man found dead in Yishun flat for days while neighbours blamed flies on bad housekeeping
A 63-year-old man was discovered dead in his unit at Block 285 Yishun Avenue 6 on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at approximately 12:35pm. Police classified the death as unnatural but found no evidence of foul play following preliminary investigations. The discovery came after neighbours had complained of a persistent bad stench and an unusual influx of flies in their homes over several days prior.
One resident, posting in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group, reported being puzzled by the sudden appearance of "so much" flies in their unit despite having no unattended rubbish, and initially dismissed the issue. Another neighbour revealed that the foul smell had been detected for days and was reported to the town council before the body was found. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigations remain ongoing.
