Yishun mobility shop director and manager charged over illegal device mods

An e-bike shop at Block 103 Yishun Ring Road has landed its director and store manager in court after a Land Transport Authority raid on 29 October 2025 uncovered three non-compliant personal mobility devices on the premises, one of which had been illegally modified with additional batteries. YY E-Bike, registered as YY Scooter Pte Ltd, had already been investigated in 2022 for displaying non-compliant devices for sale, and subsequent public feedback alleged the shop was actively offering illegal modification services as part of its business operations. Both the director and store manager face one count each under Section 35 of the Active Mobility Act 2017, which carries a maximum penalty of 24 months' jail and/or a S$20,000 fine for individuals. LTA noted approximately 90 retailer offences involving non-compliant active mobility devices across 2025, and warned that illegally modified PMDs pose serious fire risks — with 49 fires recorded — and endanger both users and the public on shared paths.
