A Secondary 3 student in Yishun reported an unsettling repeat visit on July 11, 2026, when a man claiming to be a Republic Polytechnic student knocked on her family's door at 8:57pm and repeatedly insisted on speaking to her older sister. The man, wearing a face mask, first asked if her parents were home before questioning whether she was the eldest sibling and what year she was in. When the teen mentioned her sister was unwell, he pressed her to check on the sister and relay his message. After he left, promising to return later, the teen searched online and discovered a strikingly similar encounter documented in a 2023 Stomp article—same claim about being an RP student, same neighbourhood, same pattern of behaviour. The earlier incident involved a youth who arrived at a Yishun resident's door empty-handed despite claiming he and his brother sold ice cream. Multiple residents around Yishun and Sembawang reported encountering the same individual. While the teen cannot definitively confirm it was the same person, she noted the similarities in appearance—the mask, shirt, hair, and overall presentation appeared identical across the three-year gap. She expressed concern about the pattern and wanted to alert the community. Stomp contacted Republic Polytechnic for comment.
