Recycling bin ablaze at Yishun Block 505C, child among bucket brigade
A recycling bin at the ground floor of Block 505C Yishun Street 51 caught fire at approximately 11pm on November 30, 2024, sending billowing white smoke into the night air. Residents mobilised an impromptu bucket brigade to douse the flames before the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived โ with one child notably spotted briskly carrying a bucket toward the blaze. SCDF confirmed they were alerted at 11:15pm and that the fire had already been extinguished by members of the public upon their arrival. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the Yishun recycling bin fire remains under investigation. The incident, captured on video and shared online, has since drawn attention for the enthusiastic community response, particularly the pint-sized participant.
