A personal mobility device caught fire in the living room of a third-floor unit at Block 465B Yishun Street 44 at approximately 2:25am on November 5, 2025, forcing the evacuation of around 40 residents from the affected block. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived swiftly and extinguished the blaze, with four occupants from the affected unit assessed for smoke inhalation and transported to Singapore General Hospital. All four residents were discharged the same day.

SCDF's preliminary investigation confirmed the fire originated from the PMD in the living room. The incident occurred less than four hours after another PMD-related fire at an HDB block in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on the evening of November 4, underscoring a growing trend: in the first half of 2025, there were 20 PMD fires—double the 10 cases reported during the same period in 2024.

Nee Soon GRC MP Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi commended residents for assisting one another during evacuation and praised the SCDF's swift response. He pledged support from grassroots leaders, the Housing and Development Board, and Nee Soon Town Council for the affected family. SCDF reiterated public safety warnings: avoid non-original batteries for PMDs and power-assisted bicycles, and never charge such devices overnight or for extended periods.
