Paper cutter slash kills Yishun landlord; tenant jailed 3 years
A Malaysian tenant fatally slashed her 76-year-old landlord's forearm with a paper cutter at his flat on Yishun Ring Road on the night of 21 November 2015, triggering a chain of events that ended in his death less than two hours later. Woo Mui Mee, 36, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, attacked Mr Wong Keng Woo after he switched off the main power supply to the flat โ a recurring dispute โ slashing him twice when he approached her with a wooden pole. Mr Wong was found motionless in his master bedroom and pronounced dead at 11.38pm, with acute haemorrhage from a severed left radial artery listed as the primary cause of death, compounded by ischaemic heart disease. Woo was sentenced on 20 March 2017 to three years' jail โ well below the 15-year maximum โ after the court accepted psychiatric evidence that her actions were driven by paranoid schizophrenia, including a delusional belief that her landlord was sexually attracted to her.
