Son, 19, charged with murdering father at Block 653 Yishun Ave 4

A 19-year-old was charged in court on October 12, 2022 for the alleged murder of his 47-year-old father, Eddie Seah Wee Teck, at Block 653 Yishun Avenue 4. Police received a call at 7:05pm on October 10 and arrived to find the victim lying motionless outside a residential unit on the fourth floor, one storey below his own home on the fifth — he had fled a knife attack and collapsed after frantic knocking went unanswered. Sylesnar Seah Jie Kai, the youngest sibling in the family and due to enlist for national service in 2023, allegedly retrieved a knife from the kitchen mid-argument, chased his father into the stairwell, and slashed him once across the neck and once across the back. Paramedics pronounced Eddie Seah dead at the scene, with a bloodstained knife approximately 10cm long found near the body. The offence of murder carries the death penalty in Singapore; Seah appeared in court via video link and is represented by lawyers from Quahe Woo and Palmer.
