A commuter who suffered a cardiac arrest and lost his pulse at Yishun MRT Station (NS13) on 18 August 2024 was saved after a doctor and station staff intervened in a coordinated emergency response. Dr Lim Shi Ping, who was on her way to work, stepped in alongside Station Manager Kelvin Leong, Assistant Station Managers Nur Nazrhatul Filzha Abdul Majid and Sleviih Govindarajoo, and Senior Assistant Station Manager Noorshaharudin Misnam. The combined effort of trained SMRT personnel and a passing medical professional restored the man's pulse before emergency services arrived. The incident, later highlighted by SMRT and reported in The Straits Times on 8 September 2024, drew widespread praise for the swift, textbook response that turned a potentially fatal Yishun MRT medical emergency into a story of survival.
