Auxiliary police officer in coma after car strike near Yishun Ave 1 junction

An Aetos auxiliary police officer, Muhammad Azrian, 27, was left in a coma after a white car struck his motorcycle near the junction of Yishun Avenue 1 and Yishun Street 81 at approximately 9.35am on Sunday, 23 July 2023. Azrian had left his Yishun home minutes earlier for a fishing trip with his father-in-law when the car, travelling behind him, hit his motorcycle as it filtered left — the collision captured on dashcam footage later shared by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook. He was taken unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he underwent two emergency brain surgeries to remove blood clots on both sides of his skull, and remains in the ICU. His wife, Madam Nur Afifah Ibrahim, 27, who has two daughters aged 16 months and six months, described Azrian as the family's sole breadwinner and said doctors warned the family to prepare for the worst. A 59-year-old male driver was arrested for careless driving causing grievous hurt; police investigations are ongoing.
