Man arrested asleep in Yishun van with drugs, weapons & vape
A 29-year-old driver was found asleep in the driver's seat of a rental van parked in front of a multi-storey car park in Yishun on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Police responded to a call for assistance and, upon checking the vehicle to determine the situation, discovered suspected drugs, e-cigarettes, and offensive weapons including knuckle dusters and a claw knife stashed inside.
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, carrying offensive weapons, and e-cigarette related offences. Drug-related charges were referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau for investigation, while e-cigarette violations went to the Health Sciences Authority. A 76-year-old resident witnessed several police cars and officers unloading what appeared to be a 'pile of evidence' from the vehicle, which had been rented from a platform charging $6 per hour. The investigation remains ongoing.
