Bicycle locks and threats: Yishun Ave 6 resident targeted in loan shark harassment spree
A 24-year-old woman was arrested on Nov. 20, 2024, for suspected loan shark harassment linked to two incidents on Nov. 8 and 9 at Waterloo Street and Yishun Avenue 6. At the Yishun Ave 6 unit, a debtor's main gate was locked with a bicycle lock and a handwritten note left reading: "Owe Money Pay Money. Still don't want find me?? Auntie you better help settle if not you see what I do again." Preliminary investigations indicate the woman is believed to be involved in several similar harassment cases islandwide, identified through police camera footage and follow-up by Woodlands Police Division officers. She was charged in court on Nov. 22, 2024, under the Moneylenders Act 2008, which carries fines of up to S$50,000, imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes for first-time offenders.
