Fire tears through Yishun HDB flat, 1 hospitalised and 50 evacuated
A fire broke out in a second-floor unit at Block 510B Yishun Street 51 at around 3am on April 12, 2026, prompting the evacuation of about 50 residents as a precautionary measure. Members of the public extinguished the blaze using a hosereel and fire extinguisher before Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers arrived on scene. One person was taken to Singapore General Hospital; the cause remains under investigation.
Two residents, Razie and Furzan, were commended by Nee Soon GRC MP Lee Hui Ying for their bravery in rescuing an affected resident from the fire. Ms Lee, who is vice-chairperson of Nee Soon Town Council, praised their decisive action and described the incident as exemplifying community spirit. The town council and grassroots teams have pledged ongoing support to the affected family, including assistance with cleaning and painting works.
