Elderly man, 77, killed by SMRT double-decker bus at Yishun Ave 5 junction

A 77-year-old man died after being struck by an SMRT double-decker bus at the junction of Yishun Avenue 5 and Yishun Avenue 2 on the morning of 1 November 2019. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 10.10am, with SCDF personnel responding to the scene shortly after. The elderly pedestrian sustained injuries that proved fatal, marking one of the more tragic road incidents recorded in Yishun. Emergency services were present at the Yishun junction, and the incident drew attention to pedestrian safety at one of the area's busier road intersections.
