Three dead kittens in a week at Yishun block — cat patrol hunts 'serial killer'
Three kittens were found dead within a week at Block 671A Yishun Avenue 4, with two allegedly thrown from an HDB unit on April 16 at around 10:05 pm. Yishun Cat Patrol reported the incident to police and the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), appealing for witnesses to identify the person responsible.
A third kitten with matching colouring was discovered dead at the same location on April 20, prompting concerns of a pattern. The incident sparked calls for stricter animal cruelty penalties, with Yishun Cat Patrol tagging Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin and PAP MP Louis Ng Kok Kwang (founder of ACRES) to demand a thorough investigation and harsher sentencing than existing fines and one-year pet bans.
A separate post on Sayang Our Singapore's Community Cats Facebook page noted five kittens had been spotted dead in the area over a longer period, with previous incidents recorded in January and October 2020. Residents were urged to patrol the block and report any dead or roaming kittens via the OneService app.
