Yishun canteen that poisoned 69 workers finally gets a C — 14 months later

The canteen operated by Yun Wei F&B Management at 5 Yishun Street 23 has had its food hygiene grade downgraded from B to C by the Singapore Food Agency, taking effect December 18 — more than a year after 69 people reported gastroenteritis symptoms following a meal there on October 20, 2023. One person was hospitalised during the original incident, though they have since been discharged. A joint investigation by the Ministry of Health and SFA on October 24, 2023 uncovered several food safety lapses, which have now resulted in the belated grade adjustment. The canteen will remain under surveillance with a grade review scheduled in 12 months, giving Yun Wei ample time to rediscover the concept of washing hands before touching food.
