Burglar falls to death from 8th floor after breaking into Yishun friend's flat

A 25-year-old man died after plunging from the eighth storey of Block 512C Yishun Street 51, in what police believe was a burglary gone fatally wrong. The deceased, known to resident Mr Lim, is thought to have entered the unit through an open kitchen window by leaping from a common corridor ledge to an air-conditioning ledge — a gap of roughly one metre — before losing his footing while attempting to cross back. Mr Lim's gold chain and iPhone 6 were found on the body, and the SCDF received a call at approximately 6am before the man succumbed to his injuries at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Police confirmed they were alerted to the unnatural death at 7.20am and investigations are ongoing. The incident has prompted the family, which includes three young children, to implement a nightly lockdown of all windows and doors.
