SG60 vouchers stolen and spent across Yishun while victim waited for police to act
A 59-year-old Singaporean woman lost S$570 worth of SG60 vouchers after an unknown party accessed her account and spent them across multiple Yishun outlets over 13 days. The fraudulent transactions โ 12 in total between Sep. 18 and 24 โ were made at Yishun supermarkets, minimarts, an eatery, and a pet shop, including Kim Eng Mini Supermarket, Toko Warisan, and Indonesia Selera Corner Yishun, with the largest single transaction being S$60 at Sheng Siong Junction Nine. The victim, known as Patricia, filed a police report and contacted the People's Association to freeze her vouchers, but the spending continued regardless, wiping out the remaining balance by Sep. 30. Patricia, who had hoped to use the vouchers for Deepavali groceries and household essentials, managed to spend only S$30 herself before the account was drained. Investigations are ongoing between the police and Central Singapore CDC, with the outcome determining whether replacement vouchers will be issued.
