Car fire at Orchid Park Condo basement carpark sends one to hospital in Yishun

One person was hospitalised for smoke inhalation after a car caught fire in the basement carpark of Orchid Park condominium at 89 Yishun Street 81 on July 29 at approximately 8.15pm. Witnesses reported hearing up to five loud explosions as flames engulfed the vehicle, with residents describing the incident as sounding like "firecrackers."

Videos and photos shared with Stomp showed dozens of residents gathered in the carpark as fire engines and firefighters responded to the blaze, with the damaged car appearing badly charred and melted. Tower 7 residents were evacuated from the building following the fire. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) extinguished the fire using two water jets and transported the affected person to Singapore General Hospital.

Nee Soon GRC MP Lee Hui Ying acknowledged the swift response from SCDF, police, and residents, noting that grassroots volunteers and the People's Association provided assistance to evacuated residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
