Bus ploughs into Yishun MRT taxi stand, collapsing shelter onto pedestrians
A Tower Transit bus ploughed into the covered taxi bay near Yishun MRT station on Yishun Avenue 2 at approximately 1pm on Saturday, 6 November, partially collapsing the walkway shelter onto pedestrians below. The bus, operating service 969, struck one of the structural beams supporting the low-rise covered linkway, bringing the roof down on bystanders in the taxi bay area. Three people โ the 63-year-old male bus captain and two female pedestrians aged 60 and 64 โ were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, all conscious at the time of admission. Tower Transit suspended the bus captain and issued a public apology, while LTA noted that low-rise taxi stands near bus stops are marked with yellow paint and black-striped columns specifically to prevent this type of collision. MP for Nee Soon GRC Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim visited the scene, with police and SCDF investigations ongoing.
